Acme Corrugated Soars to New Heights of Automation
Board Converting News, the major corrugated and folding carton industry publication for 39 years running, recently covered our work with Acme Corrugated Box Co. and one of our most proud successes in automation integration and rack systems projects.
WSA-USA utilized its’ 3D Digital Twin Factory Simulation Model using actual order data to develop a plan from testing simulations of “every facet of the proposed material handling solution, from roll delivery, corrugator discharge, vertical WIP storage, transfer car cycle times, delivery to the converting machines, and more.”
Considerations along the way needed to be creative in technology, equipment, and build out, which ended up also requiring an increase to the building ceiling height where rack system installation would require to support. Ultimately the project has driven a throughput increase of 50% from prior systems with improved safety risk and less human error due to both strategic build out and automations.
Acme Corrugated Box applauds “Jim Mclaughlin of WSA WSA was extremely creative…He provided solutions that were more cutting-edge, using better technology. And he didn’t just look at the technology here in the U.S. He looked at the technology in Asia and Europe, as well.”
